Kapu-Kai was built in 1962 and was billed as “The Polynesian Paradise” in Cucamonga CA. It was well know for its amazing Tiki bowling alley, the Tahitian Fire Room and spectacular waterfalls. It’s interior was outfitted in style by Oceanic Arts and included Tiki’s carved by Milan Guanko. It must have been a sight to see. Unfortunately the Kapu-Kai was destroyed by flood in 1969.
Interest in the legendary Kapu-Kai remained high and in 1992 a group of "Urban Archeologists" including Sven Kirsten and Jeff “Beachbum” Berry went into the remains of the once-great Tiki landmark to save anything possible before it was lost forever. Our Kapu-Kai pin is a loving tribute to this classic Tiki Bowling alley and watering hole. To learn more - check out our blog post.
